A Path to Take
Oil on canvas
44 x 54 x 4 cm framed
A Path to Take is part of a series of woodland paintings and drawings I have made in the last six months. Using a limited palette which includes cobalt violet light and phthalocyanine turquoise this series of paintings capture the essence and atmosphere of the woods in autumn and winter.
I was inspired to make this painting after a walk in Hevingham woods in Norfolk on a foggy day where I took note of the amazing colour perspective enhanced by the fog. It seemed like a filter had been added to the landscape where everything had been given a blueish hue and the reds of the ferns stood out. Hevingham woods is large with a few ponds, a dense covering of ferns, mixed trees and is criss-crossed by tracks such as this one.
A Path to Take is a small oil painting on canvas, framed with a dark grey wooden box frame, ready to hang.
