oil on canvas
150 x 100 cm
Painted during lockdown of the river near my house, where I took my daily exercise. I wanted to capture the silence I experienced at the river for the first time, as it usually is a busy beauty spot. During lockdown I was able to meditate and enjoy the area alone and it heightened my senses, appreciation and imagination which I fed into the painting. I wanted to recreate the sense of magic and as I sat looking at the view I made an observation of the recessive colours in the sky; back in the studio I took this to the extreme using a blanket of phthalo green to wrap around the landscape and built layers upon it.
Beyond Silence reached the shortlist for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2021 and was exhibited at Chappel Galleries in Essex October 2020 in my solo show, Recollection in Colour.
Painted in oil on a deep edged canvas, with neatly painted edges, ready to hang.
