Black Locust and Palms
oil on deep canvas
90 x 60 x 4cm
Black Locust and Palms was painted of my view from a hotel window in India, looking across the Arabian Sea from Willingdon Island in Kerala. I wanted to capture my memory of the unusual and beautiful trees and masses of white egrets resting on floating water hyacinths in the bay. I have used a manipulation of colours to allude to the memory of the heat and passive nature of India by warming up the palette considerably, using a limited palette of four colours.
The painting was part of Being With Trees at Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery, Gibraltar March – May 2021 an Arborealist exhibition.
Painted on a deep edged canvas with neatly painted edges, ready to hang.
