Homestead of the Buzzards is the old English translation for Wroxham where painted scene is situated. I often see circling buzzards up high riding the thermals but on this particular walk through the alleyway near my house they were low, above the treetops and stayed with me as I walked. It was a summer’s evening and I was again compelled to paint my experience, using a limited palette of four colours bathing everything in pink. Fir trees are another favourite subject, I love their blackness, giving way to the light around the edges.
