A second painting intended to study how and whether I could paint the sea as I saw it, from a swimmer’s perspective.
I used a high horizon the give the feeling of being in the waves with the swell of the water moving through. When looking at the sea from the shore it appears blue; when in the sea it is very much green. Dawn often appears violet rather than blue, hence the violet reflections on the surface.
Passing ships are a regular occurrence.
There are two paintings with this title which do align as a diptych. They are sold separately but I would consider an offer for the pair and will combine postage.
Painted on a braced wooden panel, ready to hang but unframed.
