Description
Kochi Lagoon
oil on gesso board
70 x 50 cm
2018
Kochi Lagoon was painted after a trip to India and represents the beautiful boat ride I took in the backwaters of Kochi. I wanted to express this dreamlike experience by transposing a pinkish colour cast onto the painting but retaining an equilibrium. I painted it loosely, using the stable surface of the gesso panel to apply washes of thin paint in layers to capture the depth, movement and reflective surface of the water.
The pink is a very subtle colour and incredibly hard to photograph! It is a light tone and rests somewhere between pink and peach. If you’d like more photos please contact me.
Painted on a professional gesso panel, back braced in wood to a depth of 3.5cm which form the edges of the painting.
Unframed but ready to hang.
