Oil on wood panel

Mangroves Monkeys is a painting of a trip I took in Thailand, kayaking through mangroves in Mueang where wild monkeys leapt around the trees. I was fascinated with the mangroves, their skeletal roots, anthropomorphic shapes and gnarly branches all reflected in the water.
I used soft purples and greens for the landscape, painting loosely, and represented the monkeys in a silhouette of contrasting orange.
Painted on a wood panel, unframed.
