Phreatic Eruption

I made a drawing of the eruption of the volcano Taal in Batangas, Philippines from a news report, of which I took photos from the tv screen.
I was impressed by the drama, angle, beauty and power of the image and later translated the drawing into this oil painting. My challenge was to capture the energy in my brushstrokes so I painted quickly to begin with, later adding details in layers.
Painted on a braced wooden panel, ready to hang.
