The Sun Blasts Your Shadow II
Pastel and pencil on gesso
50 x 40 cm
A large figure moves across a landscape with merging perspectives, limbs becoming branches trunks becoming legs. Roughly applied pastel has been rubbed back leaving ghost lines blurring the figure further into the background. Soft pinks, greys and blues in muted tones fill the handmade gesso board.
Gesso is a traditional ground made from chalk whiting and rabbit skin glue, painted in layers onto a primed board and sanded to a fine finish. It is absorbent and soft enough to scratch into.
An experimental piece working through new ideas.
Framed in a charcoal grey wooden frame, ready to hang. Available unframed on request.
