Flora & Fauna

The Yare Gallery

1 July – 1 September 2022

I have three paintings in the summer exhibition Flora & Fauna at the Yare Gallery in my beloved Gt Yarmouth. The painting pictured is one of them, The Old Man of Horner Wood which I painted for a site specific exhibition undertaken by The Arborealists, documenting trees in Exmoor National Park. I painted the yew because I was drawn to the depth of shadow it created and amongst a wood of mostly deciduous trees that had lost their leaves it remained black and strong.

I have also entered Fernery and Whitebeams at Culbone Wood which was also painted as part of the same project, and Observatory Tower which is of the grounds at the Gunton Estate.
