Description
Yet the Sea Never Overflows II
oil on gesso panel
45.5 x 61cm (49.5 x 65 x 4cm in frame)
2025
Painted in direct réponse to a drawing I had made, the climate crisis and thinking about natural elements having rights.
I was wondering how it would be to anthropomorphise the sea, and having to look it in the eye. Sometime when I paint the undulations take on various forms, and I often see eyes or faces, borne from the paint alone.
Painted in diluted oil on a gesso panel, in a wooden floater frame, with a light grey wash. Ready to hang.
Exhibited by No Place Art at Materiality, The Handbag Factory, Vauxhall, London, September 2025.
