Above Us Only Sky
Oil on deep canvas
150 x 100cm
Above Us Only Sky was painted during the second lockdown after we took to taking evening walks, which turned into night time walks. We live in a village where the streets and lanes are largely unlit and so the night sky became utterly alluring. I have always held a fascination with outer space since I bought a book on the Hubble Space Telescope back in the 90’s and made some work about it.
It was like revisiting an old love painting this nebula which I applied to a beloved landscape of some farm barns at Stiffkey in Norfolk. I wanted the landscape to hold a relation to humanity and not be purely natural as I feel it throws our lives, worries and anxieties into a firm perspective which give me peace of mind.
Painted in oil on a deep edged canvas which has neatly painted darkest blue edges. Ready to hang and no need for a frame but I can help with arranging framing if you would prefer. I am also open to offers on larger work such as this. Contact me here and for any other questions or further photos.
