Bone Soup II
Oil on braced wood panel
65 x 45.5 x 3cm
2025
Sometimes ideas come along that are so fantastical, and mysterious, I have to paint them. This was one of those moments.
The news at the time was full of tragedy, and it is impossible to not let these events enter into my paintings. I had been painting skeletons in my seascapes for a while and Bone Soup II seemed to bring it all to a crescendo, with a multicoloured wave brimming with bones, tumbling around together for ever more.
Bone Soup II was part of the great Mepaintsme Open Exhibition in 2025, a curator in New York who I really admire. They celebrate the odd and unspoken, and so this painting fitted in perfectly.
Painted in layers of diluted oil, on a professionally braced wood panel, with clean natural wood edges, ready to hang.
