Brainwave painted entirely with one, old, hog brush, over another work. I find sometimes that painting over something else adds an element of freedom and loosens up my work, as it feels less precious. The colour of the underpainting affects what I respond with on top and so the palette is often lighter.
The face was just there, enfolded in the brushmarks, so I enhanced it and let it stay.
Painted in oil on a braced wood panel with clean, bare wood edges, ready to hang.
