The Big Drink

Building up larger and larger depictions of the sea, I am aiming for a totally immersive experience in this painting with the momentum of an approaching wave. Painted using the same four colours I have used for five years, I built the ever changing surge and movement with expressive brush strokes immediately after swimming in the sea and taking photos with a waterproof camera. It really helps to engage with the feeling, power and motion of the waves.The high horizon aims to immerse the viewer and the pinkish sky refers to the dawn swims I often take.
