Amazon Deforestation 14.09 Greenpeace
oil on wood
30 x 40 x 2cm
2022
Published by Greenpeace during one of their regular fly overs, this image records damage to the Amazon forest, an area of the greatest importance to the world’s ecosystem.
Painted in 2022 as part of a project recording reportage images of climate change. Making work from photos or film entails a process of taking in the power of an image and its importance in the story of climate, but also whether it adds to the project as a whole. Painting from images is a balancing act pf representing what is there but also using paint to express something deeper. The source image is often discarded after a short while to allow the act of painting to dictate.
10% of sales from this project goes to Greenpeace.
