Birthday Candle – SOLD

On my birthday 2021, mount Etna kindly erupted like a gigantic candle on a cake.
I painted the image from a news report on the eruption of which I took photos on my phone. i like to work in this way; the photos are distorted by the flickering screen and so the abstraction already begins. I used my core four colours for this painting keeping the foreground simple and in silhouette.
Painted on a braced birch panel with neatly painted edges, ready to hang.
