Yet the Sea Never Overflows I
oil on wood
31 x 42 x 2cm
2025
A wave cries its salty tears into the sea. Anthropomorphising the sea is a way of drawing attention to the plight of nature, making it relatable, giving it emotion. Rain softly falls, mimicking the tears.
Made from the imagination, the warm green is a reference to the North Sea which is silty and dark. Diluted oil retains the brushwork and movement of the hand, which emulates the complex facets of moving water.
Painted in oil on a braced wood panel, ready to hang.
